Inspired by of Venice, Zang Toi's Fall 2015 collection had all the romance and elegance of a Clooney wedding. Set to sounds of opera reverberating through Lincoln Center's Salon, the drama of black and rich chocolate brown was a perfect contrast to the sporty, jewel-toned looks from last Spring. Though Toi hardly needs to remind us why he's been so successful, it's obvious he took Fall 2015 as an opportunity to yet again demonstrate his particular talents. Each piece exuded an acute attention to structure, with precision tailoring down to the last stitch.
Opulent details decorated the collection, like intricate hand embroidery and fur cuffs, dustings of shimmer, and sheer hose with signature Toi bow designs seductively peeking out from underneath shorter hemlines. Yet the designer used an expert degree of restraint that managed to keep everything is totally wearable territory. Of course no Toi show would be complete without red carpet-worthy evengwear looks, and this season he opted for weighty crushed-pleat gowns in metallic copper and gunmetal, and a grand finale cape fit for a Venetian goddess.
