Desigual's Fall 2014 runway show at MBFW was all about turning up the flirt factor. The entrance to the runway opened to the beating of Desigual's ginormous heart logo and models playfully danced down the runway, winking and blowing kisses on the fly. The L-word was all over the place with the brand proclaiming "La Vida Es Chula" (translation: love is always in the air) its motto.
Evidently Desigual's heart beats for its home city of Barcelona this season, "getting back to basics with a personal collection that reflects the enduring optimism found in our hometown". Poetic, albeit a bit vague when it come to what this means for clothes. The breakdown: lots of mod cuts for a great Euro-retro vibe, graphic pop art prints juxtaposed with gradient patterns, and layers of jacquard, tulle, and wool. Accented with a mosaic of bright colors from violet to orange to hunter green, it all came together for fresh take on Fall fashion. My faves included a blouse with removable collar and cuffs (read: versatile) paired with lightweight pants gathered at the waist and a gold lame jacquard bomber jackets over a flared mini-skirt in the same material. And I was kind of regretting chopping off my own long do when I saw the big, glam hair that perfectly complemented the jaunty feminine looks.
