When I came back to New York to begin a new adventure, I really didn't know anyone or even exactly what I would be doing. But there were a few things I did know:
1) I love fashion
2) I love New York
3) I love to write
Even though I had a lot of experience with writing, editing, and PR, I'd never actually been involved with an website or blog before. But I needed some sort of a vessel to help me network and navigate my way into the industry that I'd come here to be part of and starting a website seemed like a natural choice. I'm not ashamed to admit that Socialite Style was intended as more of a tool at my disposal than anything else and for this reason I was never really concerned with reflecting my own identity. That's not to say that I wasn't devoted or passionate - I invested a lot of time and energy - but I wasn't too concerned about infusing my own personality or creativity.
The whole endeavor was one huge learning experience and after a while I discovered I actually had a lot going for me: people were starting to recognize the site, I was getting great reception to my content, and I just realized I could be doing so much more...more personality, more unique content, more fun! I wanted to share my experiences and observations. Instead of a means to an end, I wanted it to be better - I wanted it to be a labour of love.
So here I am starting a new chapter with Big City Little Dress. I've finally transitioned from thinking about all of the things I could be doing to actually doing them. I'm so excited to be able to share all the things, big and little, that I love. I hope you love it too!
